The Tourmalines from Mozambique are fantastic gems.  The purple-violet stones will transform with heat treatment to neon "Paraiba" colors.  The unheated stones, however, can also be very attractive.

This pear has a notably vibrant and saturated purple color.  The gem has just been completely re-cut by a very experienced gem cutter.  It now features a 'Portuguese' facet pattern with good proportions, and the polish is perfect with no nicks or scratches.

The stone is eye-clean, with just a few very slight inclusions which do not appear from the face.  Very few unheated or heated Mozambique Tourmalines of this size are as clean as this stone.
