The new Tourmalines from Mozambique are fantastic gems.  The purple-violet stones will transform with heat treatment to neon "Paraiba" colors.

Some stones upon heating, however, change to gray, near-colorless, or truly colorless, as is the case with this pear.  This oval is the only truly colorless Tourmaline (Achroite) we have seen from Mozambique.

We have re-cut the stone completely, and it now features a 'Portuguese' pattern.  The proper angles, ideal proportions, and high polish result in full brilliance from girdle to culet.  This is now a very attractive stone, and the total lack of color makes it a collectible Tourmaline.
