As we strive to source the best quality faceted Sphene from all major world sources, we have added new Chrome Sphenes from Pakistan to our inventory.

These new Sphenes come from a new deposit found at high altitude in a valley between Skardu and Gilgit in the Northern Areas of Pakistan.

We have never seen Sphene with this vivid green color and intense orange-red dispersion.  The shifting of color in different lights is also notable and unusual.

 After EDXRF testing at GIT Lab in Bangkok, it was found that in addition to Strontium and Yttrium, Chromium is present and is almost certainly responsible for the unusual color and optical properties of this Sphene.
