Recently faceted and polished with care by a skilled and experienced lapidary artist, this rare large Malaya Garnet is dark, but has excellent brilliance throughout.

This stone has been tested at the AIGS laboratory, and found to be a blend of many different Garnet varieties, including Pyrope, Spessartite, Grossular, and Andradite.  The trade name for this complex blend of many Garnet types is 'Malaya'.

We have never seen a Malaya Garnet this large and this clean.  It was originally well over 30 carats in size, but, was poorly cut.  We had the stone completely re-cut by a famous lapidary with 20 years experience faceting large special stones.  The 'radiant' pattern has really worked well on this stone, bringing brilliance all the way out to the edges of this large long oval.

This stone is settable, but is also suitable for a collection of large special gemstones.  It is definitely a one-of-a-kind gem, and would be very difficult to replace.  We are pleased to offer this stone, and hope the next owner appreciates and enjoys it thoroughly.
