Kenya is where the highest
quality Chrome Tourmaline is found. We have never seen, however,
colorful 'confetti'-like flashes of color in Chrome Tourmaline from
Kenya or anywhere else. The colors result from light splitting
as it passes through the numerous small gas/liquid inclusions in
this Tourmaline.
We were so impressed
with the rough, we purchased the entire production from a miner
who worked at this deposit in Kenya. We will cut the stones
to show the transparence and attractive background color, as well
as the unique flashes of color.
The rough does not
yield many top stones with good color, good translucence, lack
of fractures and strong 'rainbow' flashes. The best stones
we can produce will be offered for sale until
they all sold.
This oval is not the
largest stone we have produced from our rough, but it is one of
the best. The chrome green color is unusually strong, and
the iridescence is notably strong.
