This is a very fine example of the color-change Garnets found in Tanzania.

We generally do not buy Tanzanian color-change Garnets because the color goes from brown to orange, as opposed to other types of garnet which change from blue/green to purple/red.

This large stone, however, clearly shows the brilliance and change of color better than any we have seen.  We bought the stone for its size and color, and while the cutting was not good, we knew what a good cutter could do with this gem.

The cutting is now exceptional.  Only a cutter with much experience and skill can place large facets at the perfect angles, and then polish each with care.

This stone happens to be calibrated at 14x10mm, so it will fit into a standard setting designed for a stone of this size.
