Color-Change Garnet from
Bekily, Madagascar is prized for its strong 'Alexandrite-like' change
of color. The Vanadium content in these pyrope-spessartite
garnets is high, causing the change of color and making them unique.
The refractive index is also high, resulting in strong brilliance.
The hardness is 7 to 7.5.
Demand always outweighs
supply of Color-Change Garnets from Bekily. Less and less
of this material is being found in alluvial deposits since its initial
discovery nearly 10 years ago.

Any clean well-cut Color-Change
Garnet from Bekily weighing over 2 carats is a rare stone.
While there are some thin Rutile needles in the stone, they are
not nearly as visible in person as in the photos.
This stone was recently
faceted and polished by a master gem cutter with 20 years experience.
We used the step pattern on this stone to open up the color and
bring some flash to a dark stone. The angles are perfect,
the facet junctions meet, and the polish is superb.
The change of color is
nothing short of dramatic. There is no green tone in this
exceptional quality Bekily Color-Change Garnet.
