Burmite is the name given to natural Amber found in the Hkawng Valley of Kachin State in northern Burma (Myanmar).

This amber is documented as some of the oldest on earth, dating back to the time of the dinosaurs, the Cretaceous Era, around 100 million years ago.

Burmite has a Moh's hardness of around 2.5.  It is not an easy job for cutters to facet and polish Burmite.  This is the large faceted Burmite we have ever offered.

The strong blue fluorescence in LW UV light is shown in the photos.
